The client, an American expatriate in Beijing, wanted an apartment that would balance the best of Western residential design with a nod to the Eastern aesthetic and lifestyle, while avoiding the clichés which often plague such attempts. With this project, BWA was involved in both the architectural renovation as well as the interior decoration, an unusual opportunity to conceive of the space as a cohesive whole. Bamboo plank floors, lacquered walls and ceramic tiles combine with modern furniture to achieve a unique and understated aesthetic.
