Basil Walter Architects (BWA) is an architecture and design studio headed by founder Basil Walter and principal Brenda Bello. The company has offices in New York City and Beijing, China.

At BWA, we combine an appreciation for traditional craftsmanship and a knowledge of modern technology with a thorough effort to understand how a client will use or inhabit a particular space. When undertaking a new project, we consider a variety of materials, techniques, and aesthetic approaches, as well as a range of social and environmental concerns, sparing no detail in the process. From concept to construction, our designs are built to last.

BWA has professionals licensed to practice architecture in the state of New York and is qualified to provide a complete range of architectural design services for new construction and adaptive re-use of existing buildings.

Preservation
BWA has over 20 years of experience working in many of the most significant residential landmarks in New York City, from the Dakota Apartments (Henry Hardenbergh, 1884) to 998 Fifth Avenue (McKim Mead & White, 1912) and One Sutton Place South (Rosario Candela, 1925), among others.

Interiors
BWA interior design department has the capability to design and implement interior design services, and integrate these seamlessly with the architectural design and technical aspects of each project, thereby ensuring complete oversight of the project down to the very final details.

Sustainability
BWA professionals are qualified to provide sustainability consulting services, and are committed to analyzing every aspect of the design product in terms of its possible environmental impact. Most recently, BWA has been engaged by NRDC to explore and identify sustainable materials and methods for fabricating furniture in China, both for domestic and international commercial and residential markets.
